[ 02 ] Serverless & Privacy-First Architecture

Zonindex is built on a privacy-by-design principle. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, user tracking scripts, or persistent analytics databases.

When you interact with the map, spatial analysis calculations (such as distance measurements, green area percentages, and liveability scores) are executed directly inside your web browser via client-side libraries (Turf.js, Web Workers, FlatGeobuf). We do not record or log your individual coordinate queries on any server.

[ 03 ] Client-Side Local Storage (LocalStorage)

Zonindex uses your browser's local storage (localStorage) strictly for technical, non-tracking functions:

  • Saving your selected user profile preference (e.g. Standard, Family, Youth, Dog owner).
  • Temporarily caching calculated scores and coordinates so you can view comparison data without re-fetching static assets.

This data remains strictly on your local device and is never transmitted to us or third-party marketing networks.

[ 04 ] External Infrastructure & APIs

To render maps and retrieve open datasets, your browser makes direct network requests to the following service providers:

Cloudflare Pages & Cloudflare R2 (Hosting & CDN):

Our web application and partitioned FlatGeobuf datasets are delivered via Cloudflare, Inc. (USA / EU data centers). Cloudflare may process technical log data (IP address, browser type, timestamp) to protect against DDoS attacks and ensure CDN caching. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Legitimate security interest).

CARTO & OpenStreetMap (Map Tiles & Geocoding):

The base map vector tiles are provided by CARTO and OpenStreetMap contributors. When you use the search bar, your query is sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service to resolve street names into geographic coordinates. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Fulfillment of core application functionality).

Geoportal Berlin / FIS-Broker (WFS Services):

To retrieve real-time noise levels and residential classifications (Wohnlage), your browser queries public WFS endpoints operated by the State of Berlin (gdi.berlin.de).

Google Fonts:

Typography (Inter, JetBrains Mono) is loaded from Google Fonts servers to ensure proper visual rendering. Google may record technical request headers (IP address).

[ 05 ] Payment Processing & Merchant of Record

When you purchase an Urban Due Diligence Dossier, financial transactions and checkout flows are handled entirely by:

Lemon Squeezy, Inc.

222 S Church St STE 100, Charlotte, NC 28202, USA

Privacy Policy: https://www.lemonsqueezy.com/privacy

Lemon Squeezy acts as the Merchant of Record for our paid digital products. They independently collect and process your payment method details (credit card number, PayPal, Apple Pay), billing address, email, and tax identifiers (VAT).

Zonindex never accesses, receives, or stores your credit card numbers or banking credentials. We only receive confirmation of completed transactions (transaction ID, customer email, purchased item) to unlock and deliver the corresponding dossier. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (Performance of contract).

[ 06 ] Your Rights under GDPR / DSGVO

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the following rights regarding personal data:

  • Right of Access (Art. 15 GDPR): Confirmation as to whether personal data concerning you is processed.
  • Right to Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR): Correction of inaccurate personal data.
  • Right to Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR): Deletion of your stored personal data.
  • Right to Restriction (Art. 18 GDPR) & Data Portability (Art. 20 GDPR).
  • Right to Object (Art. 21 GDPR): Right to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Right to Lodge a Complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (e.g. the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information / Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit).
